Spent 2 nights here with my young kids, had a fab stay overall. Thoroughly enjoyed the lovely and beautiful rooms. The breakfast was excellent with delightful selections to choose from, and the staff was amazing. The location was breathtaking for Teluk Datai, very close to the island. Furthermore, in the stream below. The service was nice...

Magnificent setting, very dedicated staff.
Location just off the excellent restaurants and a hilltop and too many highlights on the fodder. High standard room & luxury bathroom. Superb meal and GOOD service.

An incredible stay. The villa we stayed in was perfectly magical, all glowing red timber, luxuriously appointed, serenely uncluttered, and spacious. It was quite private, perched in the rainforest with our wide balcony overlooking a stream. We chose to have two romantic dinners on our private balcony, delivered and beautifully set up by the wonderful staff. The staff had the ease of expert service, always smiling, natural, helpful and attentive. A fellow guest told us that he had returned to the hotel four time over the last six years, and most of the current staff had been there on their first visit. The service felt very personal, with staff knowing our names and preferences within a very short time. The facilities were fantastic. The hotel's Beach Club was a favourite spot, with wide couches to lounge on, a well stocked bar and great food all provided on the pristine beach. We chose to have a picnic on the beach one night, delivered by Room Service in a fabulous full basket. Other guests chose to have a delightfully presented romantic dinner set up for them there. We also had memorable, beautifully presented meals at the Dining Room, the Lobby Bar, The Pavilion, and Gulai House, all part of the hotel's services. While it may have been assisted by our strong exchange rate, the prices of all meals and drinks seemed very reasonable. The hotel environmental expert who provided the nature walks was a major highlight, enabling us to appreciate the unique environment and wildlife. We were introduced to a number of other guests on these walks, which enhanced the feel of our holiday. Our nine days felt like a wonderful month of rest and relaxation! We will certainly widely recommend The Datai to our friends and family, and have every intention of returning.

By far the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Words can't describe the beauty of the location or the attention to detail of the staff. Everyone should enjoy this location at least once in their life.

The rainforest villa was amazing, and the kids loved kayaking to a small island. Snorkeling right off the beach was a highlight!
felt like it was a home away from home.

The location and the beach. The gym was good.
We stayed 12 days in the hotel, the service at times was very poor. The hotel has its own restaurants, we never felt comfortable dining in them also the prices did not justify the meals or the quality of service. We hired a car throughout our stay and the hotel insisted on parking my vehicle, that was okay, until I asked for it to be brought to the hotel entrance and 30 minutes later there it was, every night the same. The hotel does not have a bank machine and this proved to be a problem as the hotel is so isolated. In general we had a good holiday but the hotel pretends to be something they are not. What the hotel needs is a good strong manager to sort out the service and improve the standards. Okay with this standard of hotel you should be prepared for high prices but we could not accept the low level of service and poor standards.

The qualityand ambience of the interior of the Villa. The location in a "jungle", sensitively developed. The beach location.
Building work was being undertaken around the resort. The ambience was disturbed. The resort is "tired" and so is in need of repair. The menus at the three restuarants could be more varied.
